When selected appropriately, every image communicates a story. To connect with our brand messaging, we must use emotionally engaging, active images that convey the spirit and strength of Indiana University.

Use environmental portraits that connect the subject with his or her work, studies, and/or lifestyle. Images should feel relaxed, casual, and confident, and use a short depth of field that creates a strong focus on the subject.

Portraits should never be taken in a studio. Using your campus as a backdrop, allow your subject to walk, talk, and move through his or her environment in an authentic manner. Aim to use well-composed shots that position your subject as the hero of a captivating scene.
